Roslyn Black Pioneer Picnic

Roslyn MinerRoslyn Black Pioneer Picnic is this Saturday, August 6th, at the Roslyn City Park.  The picnic commemorates the black pioneers who first came to Roslyn WA in 1888 to work in the coal mines.  The all day event is where families, friends, and newcomers celebrate with good food, fun games for kids, displays and exhibitions.

There is a great article in the Ellensburg Daily Record from a few years ago which interviews people who attend and talks about the history of the Black Pioneer Picnic.
